I have tried only a few metal stoppers on the piccolo. The one I am using now is made of aluminium and together with a crown of the same material gives good results. Before writing these words I installed the cork asssembly provided with my blackwood instrument when I bought it , played on it for a time and then switched back to the aluminium stopper and crown. There is no doubt that the result is more resonance for the same air stream.
