These are  7 each stoppers and crowns for flute which I have found musically interesting. For piccolo see below.

Left To Right: Aluminium Titanium Zirconium Copper Niobium Hafnium FLUTEMET

Over the past few years I have found that experienced professional players who have taken the trouble to try out various combinations of stopper and crown have been very pleased with the results.

Very recently the Principal Flute in a well known orchestra  having used a FLUTEMET crown and stopper in  a performance of Swan Lake told me that she felt as if she was playing another -and better-instrument.

A guided tour of 6 to 8 selected metals (preferably using your favourite flute) would take about 2 hours and demonstrate the surprising power of these materials to affect the performance of your head piece in different ways.

From Left to Right: Aluminium Titanium Zirconium Niobium FLUTEMET Tantalum

(The crown above the tantalum stopper is made of blackwood)

I have the impression that the denser metals - tantalum and FLUTEMET are favoured by piccolo players;but my experience with the piccolo items has been limited;for some reason piccolo players do not seem be as interested in tonal results as are flutists.
